URL Redirect

I think we talked about this in the past but, this really should be pretty easy to do, I have test and tried and changed things and can not find away to get it working.

Should be pretty simple.

And would add alot of value to the software.

I was thinking it would be something as simple as

http://www.statically.com/parking/index.php?domain_name=whatever.com

even masking it just pulls default page.


Maybe changing some of the pull commands on the parking page and making a different default page for url redirects would do the trick ?

This also can elimnate the need for catch all nameservers, as with most forwarding services it will forward all traffic to the address the name is pointed too.


like ctisales.info is forwarded with masking from godaddy

so www.ctisales.info/anythingyouwanthere.html
and www.ctisales.info
resolve to the same parking page.

there are some small problems I am trying to workout that I found once I had it in production.

Once i get these errors out or smart does since i sent him the code changes it will be posted.

The biggest part is done, just by making it work now small stuff needs to be looked at.

He is referring to the text are in parked domain names.

The script didn't work well. Here are some of my issues during my test.

- Missing files as mentioned above.
- When you add new domain name. The system will add two entry in the database, 1 for DNS and 1 for FWD. In domain statistic, the you will see 2 entry for that domain. The system should only show the active one whether be DNS or FWD but not both.
- In the landing page, when you click one of in Popular Categories or Top Searches. The system will return Domain is not parked with Moscom.com!.
- The viewed n times in the last 30 days should not appear on the landing page. Instead, this should be in More details after the number of bid entry.
- When you change registration rate in admin management, this changed will not update the set price in Price List page.

For now, I move back the old script 'till these issues fixed.

Looks like you are running v1.2. Thats why the files listed above are missing. They were introduced in v1.3. I will run an update so that you are running the latest version.

This should fix the duplicate enties being added to the db.

The only bugs which I can see to be issues are:
- The registration rate not updating.
- When pop categories or top searches clicked it returns error.

I will fix these bugs and post an update later today.

yeah I need some info on how to forward domain to the site with the new script.

The new url redirect does not work, it has the same problems as when I started this developement on my own.

www.ctisales.info is set up forwarding with masking to your mod.

It will not allow masking so the user sees:
http://www.statically.com/parking/redirect.php?Terms=cti&domain=ctisales.info

in the url.

When you do a search, it no longer gives that click after the search to the domain owner.

So you go and do a test for search and this is the output

http://www.statically.com/parking/index.php?Terms=test


I will work on this mod this weekend and see if I can correct these problems.

Ok I have everything working Except two things.

First Getting Masking to work on the php page. If you remove the code below, masking works. But it no longer adds click to the Users account after leaving first landing page.

Also when you click an ad, you will notice in your browser, it keeps your name

Example: www.ctisales.info Search for test: Click on ebay. You will see Ebays home page with www.ctisales.info in the url still. And does not count it as a click in the system.

Next is the Top Search on left hand side. They shot you straight back to redirect.php and the users clicks do not add to the domain that was brough to the site from.
